Retail and Café Discount

Employees of King Arthur Baking receive a generous discount at our retail store and café. To ensure you receive this discount with each of your purchases, you will be issued a rewards card which, when scanned, will calculate the appropriate discount for the items you are purchasing.

Retail Store: Employees receive 40% off regularly-priced items (excluding 50 lb. bags of flour), and 20% off books, publications, electronics, and gift cards.

Café: Employees receive 20% off regularly priced items in the café and 10% off orders from the catering menu.

Online Purchases:

  • You will now receive free shipping on all orders $35+ after your employee discount.  This makes our benefits more equitable for those employees that do not live close to our retail store, and it encourages product trial by all our EOs who are our best brand advocates.  (This benefit is intended for use by your household only.  We do not have a way to limit the benefit to one household address today, but you should expect this update in the future.)

Additional Details:

  • All employees will have an employee account that is associated with their King Arthur baking email address.  This account will become part of the employee customer group. You will receive an email and be asked to login and create a password for the account.
  • Your employee discount and free shipping benefit will be associated with your KAB account and will be automatically applied to your shopping cart once signed into your account. You will not be able to use those benefits on a personal, non-KAB account.
  • The newly created employee accounts will no longer have access to the Baker’s Rewards Basic or Plus loyalty programs.  We are offering the free shipping benefit in lieu of being able to join the BRP program, which is a $40 savings to you.
  • If you have Baker’s Rewards Plus on a personal account, you can keep it on that account but you will not be able to apply your employee discount to those orders.
  • The REG40 discount code will no longer work.
  • If you would like a refund on your BRP membership, please reach out to our customer service team at csops@kingarthurbaking.com.
  • If you choose to cancel your membership, please reach out to our customer service team at csops@kingarthurbaking.com.
Guest Passes

In an effort to preserve this generous employee discount, while understanding that employees want to share the joy of baking with family and friends, employees can pick up guest passes at the retail store to share with anyone of your choosing. This pass gives the bearer 20% off their order (up to $500), excluding bakery and café items, appliances, gift certificates, and 50 lb. bags of flour.

Please note: If you have a vendor or corporate guest visiting and would like to extend a discount, you can pick up a guest pass for them.

Free Monthly Bread and Flour (In-Store Benefit Only)

Employees are eligible to receive any single item from our flour product line (with a retail value of less than $14.95) and two loaves of bread (or rolls or frozen pizza dough) for free each month – available in Camelot only. No online purchases can be made to obtain the free bread or flour. These items will automatically be loaded onto your rewards card on the first of every month and must be redeemed within that month. They do not carry over from month to month. The current items eligible for this benefit are listed below. These items are subject to change as retail prices change.

We’d also like to share that the free monthly flour benefit reflects the cost of our highest-priced flour.

We’re excited to offer an expanded range of product that are eligible for this discount, and we hope this will give all employees the opportunity to learn more about a wide variety of King Arthur products by baking with them in their own kitchens. You are our best ambassadors, so happy baking! We look forward to hearing about the community building through this amazing discount program you receive as an employee here at KAB.

Continuation of Discount: If an employee leaves the company and has been employed with KAB for at least 15 years, that employee will be able to retain their discount for purchases made, for personal use only, at our Retail Store, Café, and Baking School location in Norwich, VT, and online. This does not include the continuation of the free bread and flour.

CSA funds rollover each year and don’t expire. Your CSA card will be available for pick-up at the Norwich farmstand. If you prefer to pick-up your card at the Post Mills location, please contact Crossroad Farm directly. The farmstands are typically open from early May to early November.

Green Commute Reimbursement Policy

Please refer to the guidelines below to track and calculate your Green Commute Reimbursement. We’ve tried to keep the policy straightforward. If ANY questions or suggestions arise, please do not hesitate to contact Human Resources.

Start logging your Green Commutes by clicking the button below:

Logging your Green Commutes

Please be sure to use the Green Commute Log to track your commutes. As this is a green initiative, we encourage you to track your commutes on the electronic form by saving a copy of the excel document to your computer. Each day you Green Commute to King Arthur you will record the information on the log; enter the date and method of green transportation you used. If you carpooled, you will list the number of passengers you carried for the day’s am and pm commute and the names of these passengers you carried. If you biked, walked, ran, or took the bus, you will record the number of times you used each commute method that day. The electronic spreadsheet will keep a running reimbursement total for you, no math required!

If you are unable to keep an electronic log, you can print a copy of the form or collect a paper copy from the folder on the bulletin board in the Avalon Break Room.

Submitting Your Log

Mark your calendars with the due dates so you don’t miss out on your reimbursement. The Green Commute Logs will be submitted quarterly and the reimbursement will be processed the week after the logs are due in the next possible payroll of the following quarter. Continuing to green incentive, we encourage you to mail your completed electronic log to hrgroup@kingarthurbaking.com by each quarter’s deadline. However, if you are using a paper log you can send the paper log through interoffice mail or drop by HR.

2024 Deadlines

Log Dates Log Due Date Payroll Date
1/1 – 3/31 3/31/2024 4/12/2024
4/1 – 6/30 6/30/2024 7/19/2024
7/1 – 9/30 9/30/2024 10/11/2024
10/1 – 12/31 12/31/2024 1/17/2025

Carpooling

We only reimburse the driver of the carpool, as the driver will be using their gas and adding miles and wear and tear to their vehicle. We have 2 carpool parking spaces at Camelot, Avalon (total of 4 carpool spaces), and Excalibur. AND graphics have designed KAB carpool vehicle tags for you to hang on your rear-view mirror on the days you carpool and would like to take advantage of the prime carpool spots!

  • For every one-way carpool commute to/from KAB (max 2 trips a day) the carpool driver will receive $1 for every commuting adult in their vehicle. For example, if the driver has 1 commuting adult passenger for both the am and pm commute, they would receive $4 for the day: $2 for themselves and $2 for their passenger.
  • A commuting adult is someone who would otherwise be driving a second vehicle to work that day. Therefore, giving rides to school, eldercare, and daycare do not qualify. The driver must be a KAB employee to receive the reimbursement; however, the passenger does NOT need to work at KAB to qualify.
  • The passenger, while they will not receive a cash reimbursement from KAB, they have the benefit of reducing the miles they put on their vehicle and not using the gas in their own vehicle for the commute.
  • Carpool drivers will track the days they drive with the number of people in the vehicle on the Green Commute Log.

Electric Vehicle Commuting

  • For every one-way electric vehicle commute to/from KAB (max 2 trips per day) you will receive a $1 reimbursement.

Active Commuting

  • An active commute is considered walking, biking or running to work.
  • For every one-way active commute to/from KAB (max 2 trips per day) you will receive a $2 reimbursement. Active commuting will not only help the environment, but it will also improve your own well-being! This added wellness benefit is why we’ve decided to reward an active commute with the additional dollar per trip!

Public Transport

  • For every one-way commute on public transport (bus) to/from KAB (max of 2 trips per day) you will receive a $1 reimbursement.

Other Green Commute Methods

Although there are many ways to “green” your commute, which we encourage you to pursue, we do not offer financial reimbursement for any method besides the ones listed above. Example: telecommuting – although a great way to commute green, it is not an option for every KAB employee-owner due to certain job requirements; therefore, we will not be rewarding telecommuting in our green commute reimbursement policy.

Environmental Incentive

20 pounds of carbon dioxide is produced by every gallon of gasoline burned. To put that in perspective: a person driving 15,000 miles per year in a vehicle getting 23 mpg would produce more than 6.5 tons of CO2 annually. By choosing to GREEN your commute, you will be adding extra cash to your wallet in addition to reducing the carbon emissions released into our atmosphere.

Let’s do our part to help mother earth!

Curious what your carbon footprint is? Follow the link in the button below and use the simple carbon calculator.

Need Help Finding a Carpool Buddy?

Paid time off to Vote

Every year-round employee has 4 (four) hours of paid time off per fiscal year to get to the polls and VOTE during regularly scheduled workdays!

At times, work may create barriers for you to get to the polls and exercise your responsibility, and we hope this great benefit eliminates those barriers. If you are scheduled to be working at KAB on election days, and you do not have sufficient time outside of working hours to vote at a poll near you, KAB will pay you up to four hours to do so.

We suggest your time off for voting happens at the beginning or end of your regularly scheduled shift, whichever is convenient for your department and supervisor. It should be that easy; if you need time off to vote, discuss in advance with your supervisor to help get you to the polls to VOTE!

PTO Donation: Policy

KAB recognizes there are times when employees want to donate paid time off (PTO) to an employee who suffers from a medical emergency, defined as a medical condition of the employee, or for an immediate family member of the employee, that will require the prolonged (more than one week) absence of the employee from work and will result in a substantial loss of income to the employee because the employee will have exhausted all available paid leave.
